How To Play A One Octave MIDI Pedal Board

Arranger keyboards such as the Yamaha Tyros 2 and the Korg PA800 are becoming extremely popular since the massive decline in electric organ sales. These arranger keyboards provide automatic bass lines, which is fine if you are playing basic triad and seventh chords. With a MIDI pedal board you can divert the bass note in the auto chord system to the bass pedal note you want and still keep the rhythmic effect or you can play your own bass line with no auto features added at all.

All exercises in this article should be practised on a one octave pedal board and you should be sat down at a keyboard with the MIDI pedal board placed directly underneath the keyboard. The pedal board should be placed so that top C on the pedal board is level with Middle C on the keyboard. Depending on the length of your legs, you can make small adjustment to the placement of the pedal board to suit. You should be able to play bottom C and top C with out any discomfort.

So here are the five top tips to help you to play the bass pedals.

1 Line your left leg up with G on the pedal board. You can then use your leg below the knee to swing to the left of G and play bottom C then swing all the way back up to play Top C. Try to keep the top part of your leg, above the knee, still.

2 When playing the bass pedal with your left foot, keep your leg still and use your ankle to make the pressing motion.

3 Play slowly, on the pedal board, C major scale, C minor scale and a chromatic scale starting with bottom C. Play these scales up and down and repeat ten times.

4 Play this sequence of notes on the pedal board starting with bottom C. C, D, E, F, D, E, F, G, E, F, G, A, F, G, A, B, G, A, B, G, C. Repeat ten times.

5 Play a chromatic scale on the pedal board with left hand chords. Starting with bottom C, play chromatically up to top C and back down again. Repeat ten times.

The important thing to remember when practising the above bass pedal exercises is to play the bass pedals slowly and stay acurate. If you play to fast to start with, you will learn to play the bass pedals wrong. If you start slow and accurate, speed will come later but you must be patient.

If you practice the above exercises every day for six months, you will be playing the bass pedals like a pro.

Relaxation during Examinations

The examinations are around the corner and youre feeling really stressed up. Before you torture yourself and your body, take a break! Theres only so much you can absorb at one. Thats why short breaks in between revision and taking time off every few days will help to calm you down and recharge your mind and body.

1) Clean up your room. Your study table is probably cluttered with notes and books. Organising your room will not only relax your mind but it will also give you a clean and tidy area to study.

2) When you feel stress level hitting an all time high, stop what youre doing. Lie down on your bed with lights off and play some relaxing music. Try calming nature sounds or classical music.

3) Visit the beaches. Its really relaxing to sit on the sand and enjoying the sound of the waves and the beautiful clouds.

4) Play your favourite song and dance! Exercising releases endorphins which perks your whole system up and helps you to burn away your stress energy.

5) What do you enjoy doing the most? Shopping? Watching movies? Take short breaks in between studying to do the things you really love. Just because exams are around the corner doesnt mean that you have to give up on all your favourite activities.

6) Laughter is the best medicine! Watch a good old classic comedy and laugh to your hearts content.

7) Yoga is one of the best ways to relax your body and focus your mind. Play some soothing music and practise a few poses that you can easily find on the Internet

8) Play some stress-release games. Log on to http://web.aspire.sg for our series of games that can help to reduce examination stress in children.

10 Tips for Choosing and Placing Unique Outdoor Yard Art

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, especially when it comes to garden art. It all boils down to finding pieces that are unique and special to you and that make you feel good.

Many homeowners wouldnt dream of putting any kind of garden art in their backyard unless it was very traditional. They like formal garden art like stone or concrete statuary of angels, gargoyles and goddesses. Formal garden art also includes ornate birdbaths and heavy classical water fountains.

Others take their garden art far less seriously and want unique outdoor yard art with a more modern look and feel. This group of backyard lovers enjoy nostalgic and fun resin or bronze sculptures of children and animals of every kind. Ive even seen alligator statuary yard art!

Other examples of this semi-formal garden art include copper art for patio and yard, stainless steel yard art, topiary wire garden sculptures, as well as handcrafted items like one-of- a- kind birdhouses, stain glass stepping stones, pottery, and other unique outdoor yard art.

Then theres the crowd who declare that art should be just plain fun and crazy. They like informal garden art. Their taste is off the wall. They love to shake things up with a few pink flamingos, or to decorate their gardens with unusual household objects like broken china plates, a dressmakers dummy, even an old toilet seat lid.

They like to transform old junk into beautiful works of art. No need to waste anything. Try placing recycled metal garden art in your backyard or use architectural salvage to create garden art from old windows.

Whatever you consider garden art, here are 10 places to display it to bring out its full charm.

In a boring, bare part of the yard to add interest and stimulate conversation.

At the end of a path to add drama.

In any area to add comic relief. How about some playful topiary wire garden sculptures of your favourite animal like a lion or a dinosaur?

In front of an ugly spot to hide dead patch.

Directly in line with an unwanted view of the neighbours yard to create privacy.

On a wall or fence to visually break up the long monotonous line. I have a beautiful concrete painted face hanging on one part of my fence and a mirror hanging on another to add interest. Any garden wall art sculpture will do.

In front of a colorful burst of foliage to punctuate the space. My classical white bird bath looks gorgeous just in front of my huge pink rose bush.

Hidden behind some greenery so it just peeks out a little to create a feeling of antiquity. This will put plants in the spotlight.

Within the frame of a beautiful view to enhance the view even more. My backyard is on the lake and the view is made even more beautiful by a piece of unique outdoor yard art --A fountain of Poseidon the sea God that we have made part of the view.

In a rock garden to create feeling of garden gallery. The rocks are natural pedestals for the art and create a wonderful playground for eye to bounce around in and land on art.

Dont forget about the view from inside. Take a look out your window to see where you might place garden art so that it draws you out into the backyard.

Finally, less is more. Too much garden art will make your backyard look junky. All you need is a few interesting pieces of unique outdoor yard art to personalize your backyard and give it a sense of place.

Every Song Tells A StoryBut Does It Need To Be An Abstract Novel?

For a musician, your songs are your art. They are the physical embodiment of your creative gifts. Every bit of anger, happiness, angst, joy, pain, elation, knowledge or humor goes into the story known as your song. You write and re-write it, scouring over each note and wordperfecting it for recording and live performance.

But when you play it for others, youre not getting the reaction you expected. Your friends, fans and family seem less than enthusiastic as they dully respond, Yeah. That wasumgood. How could this be? You poured your soul into this piece. This was your Stairway To Heaven! This was your Smells Like Team Spirit! Its a lyrically amazing ode about the persecution of pagan midwives in grass hut tribes! It flows, it breathes, and its seven and a half minutes of pure musical perfection!

Whoa. Stop right there, Mozart. You wrote a seven and a half minute song about the persecution of pagan midwives in grass hut tribes and youre wondering why youre thirteen year-old cousin fell asleep in the middle of the fourth verse? You wrote a seven and a half minute song about the persecution of pagan midwives in grass hut tribes and youre confused as to why your drummers girlfriend began calling her friends on her cell phone before the song had reached its bridge?

It may be hard to believe when youre penning an opus such as this, but the normal human brain is wired a little differently than an accomplished musicians, like yourself. And although music is art, its also popular culture and the goal should be for others to enjoy your creative efforts as much as you do.

So, how can you make sure that your writing experience is as positive as your audiences listening experience? What can you, as musicians do, to eliminate aspects of your songs that may alienate, confuse or just plain bore your fans?

The following are a few tips that may add success to your songwriting experience:

1.) After Four Minutes, It Becomes Background Music---Music aficionados aside, the average person has roughly the attention span of a young adult hummingbird. As a songwriter, you need to grab your audiences attention and hold it until the end of the song before they flit off to something else more interesting to them. Although four minutes (or less) may seem like the blink of an eye when a songwriter is storytelling, its a very long time to expect your run-of-the-mill club-goer or web-surfer to stay fixated on your music.

2.) Tell Your Story As Directly As Possible---We all love allusions, allegories, vague references, and subtle metaphors but use them sparingly or become a beat poet. A little abstractness goes a long way when writing a popular song. Song lyrics fly into peoples minds as quickly as the bassist plucks out quarter notes. If you make your lyrics too complicated, then your audience may still be trying to figure out the verse when youre already playing the chorus. This could prompt the average listener to tune out your masterpiece, order another beer and switch on their Ipod.

3.) If English Is Your First Language, Use It In Your Song---Its great that youre an educated, cultured, artistic intellectual sponge. But remember that most people who hear your music are not book worms or art whores. Big, involved words make for memorable song lyrics but use them occasionaly. Its good for your fans to ponder the meaning of a particular lyric but give them too many to ponder and theyll get so caught up in the words that they may forget your song.

4.) Obscure Musicality Can Be Confusing Too---Lyrics arent the only way to confuse the average listener. Obscure time signatures, discordant instrumentation and avant guard drum lines may seem like genius to your fellow musicians, but if your listeners cant tap and/or hum along, you may find yourself only invited to perform in underground opium bars where the audience members have all had one too many hash brownie.

If youre not sure where to begin, start simple. Write a short, but sweet, song that packs an emotional punch in a universal way. Write about something everyone is familiar with: love, politics, lifestyle issues or the sociology of being a human being on the planet. Once people have fallen in love with your music, it will be easier to get them to give the extra listen to your more complicated, artistic pieces.

Remember that just because a song is popular or easily understood, doesnt mean that its not good creativity. Art is subjective, and truly in the eye of the beholder. Your least favorite song could be someone elses favorite. You never have to stop being creative or artistic, just acknowledge that theres an audience out there that wants to hear what you have to saybut theyll need to be able to comprehend it first.

CSI (Season 1) DVD Review

Nominated for 20 Emmys and 6 Golden Globes, including Best TV Series - Drama, CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) quickly rose to become the number one show on television following its Fall 2000 premiere. The brainchild of creator Anthony Zuiker, the show follows the investigations not of traditional TV detectives working the streets, but forensic scientists who unravel complicated crime mysteries in their ultra-modern laboratory. Either the #1 or the #2 Nielsen rated show since the start of its second season, CSI has helped CBS to reemerge as the #1 network television station, spawning (similar to predecessor Law & Order) two series spin-offs CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. Each exciting hour-long episode begins with the theme song "Who Are You" by The Who, a song more than befitting of a show where criminals are aggressively tracked down, sometimes years after committing their crimes

CSI focuses on the Las Vegas Police Department's Crime Scene Investigation nightshift unit headed by Gil Grissom (William Petersen), a quirky outsider whose obsessive quest for the facts and dedication to his work dominates his life. The CSI team is composed of a number of individuals with differing backgrounds and personalities - single mother Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) specializes in blood-splatter analysis, the highly competitive Nick Stokes (George Eads) specializes in hair and fiber analysis, recovering gambling addict Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) specializes in audio/visual analysis, and the rambunctious Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) specializes in materials and element analysis. Throw in hard-nosed homicide captain Jim Brass (Paul Guifoyle), CSI understudy Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda), and lab coroner Al Robbins (Robert David Hall) and all the ingredients are present for a show wrought with suspense, drama, and tension. As transients from all walks of life travel to Las Vegas to enjoy the wonders of its adult playground, increased levels of crime accompany them, and the team at CSI is determined to stay a step ahead of the criminal element

The CSI DVD features a number of dramatic episodes including the series premiere in which Grissom investigates a murder police believe was staged to look like a suicide, but only minute tidbits of physical evidence are available to work with. Meanwhile, Warrick and Catherine investigate a local drunk who was shot to death while breaking into the home where he was staying, and Nick investigates a robbery Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Friends & Lovers" in which Grissom and Warrick investigate the murder of a man found naked in the desert while Catherine and Nick investigate the murder of a school's headmaster by the school's founder, and "Too Tough To Die" in which the CSI investigates the rape and attempted murder of a woman abducted from a mall parking lot

Remarrying Your Ex

Most of the divorced individuals would hesitate even to think of it for a while. They straightaway reject the option by saying that they do not have that much kindness to forgive the past. They feel it as a waste of time and that their energy could be spent on creating a new relationship and new love with someone else. However, some other people would feel the affection for their partner only in their absence. They might not have realised what they had so far, till it vanished. Divorce might not be an obstacle for them to get together. Rather than dwelling on the past, they will focus on the future with expectations by forgetting the past bitterness. Society accepts either way. Let us analyse the pros and cons involved in remarrying the former partner.

Before persons are proceeding ahead for a rematch with the same player, they should be capable of removing all blots of distresses and hatred caused by them earlier. The persons should have the feeling that they cannot get on with life without the other person. If they love their former partners even after the trauma caused by them and if they feel that they miss them, then trust and forgiveness should be rebuilt on both the sides. Period of separation would definitely have a strong influence on both the parties. That period would allow them to rethink of each other. When the person is no more with them, the loneliness might kindle the thoughts about their ex. They might regret their decision of seeking divorce. In those cases, especially when both the persons are in the same wavelength, then, remarriage can be thought of.

There are ample precedents for the cases of people who had divorced and decided to get back together again. There might be a variety of reasons such as having children, traditional or religious compulsions, taxes or handling property and bills for their remarriage. It is not difficult to restore the marital life after a divorce. As a matter of fact, it can be done any number of times. However, one should be very much sure that the rejoining will definitely help them in a positive way and their relationship will continue for a long time. They both should sit down and discuss the reasons which caused the divorce between them. They should figure out solutions for those problems. They both should be sure that they are now compatible and manageable.

One of the major mistakes which most of the remarried couples commit is that they would forget why they had divorced. Owing to emotional disturbances and loneliness they would like to get together again. Unfortunately, very soon they will rediscover that nothing has changed between them. A mistake should not be committed twice. Wise people always learn from others mistakes and ordinary people too should have the capacity to learn from their mistakes rather than repeating the same.

We can quote many precedents even from a list of celebrities who had remarried and redivorced. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton met on the sets of Cleopatra and they got married in 1964. They both were together for nearly 10 years and the most popular duo that travelled all over the world was the cynosure of all the eyes. They were the worlds best-known celebrity couple. Though their separation hit the headlines all over the world, they remarried and also redivorced in 1976.

Melanie Griffith, a veteran actress, was married to Don Johnson in 1976 and, after thirteen years of gap, she got remarried to Johnson, but divorced again in 1996.

Rap star Eminem and Kimberly Mathers were first married in 1999 and, after two years of married life, they got divorced. At the time of their split there was a huge battle over the custodial issue of their daughter Hailie. However, after seven years, they got remarried but, as a sudden twist, they got divorced, but the only difference is that, for the second time, their married life lasted just three months.

These precedents have proved that remarriages are not worth attempting without analysing the past mistakes and rectifying them. The remarriage would not be considered a new marriage; rather it is like resuming the old marriage. Not many people are favouring the remarriage as per statistics provided by various research institutes, but a very few never fail to attempt it. The sincere advice to those couples is- do not rush into the relationship. Be patient and only if you have cent percent confidence, resume the relationship; otherwise you might regret the decisions taken in the sway of emotions.

Panic Away & Linden Method | Unearthed & Uncensored

Finally Joe Barry has been dooped, I have the uncensored, real truth about his Panic Away EBook...and others!

Wouldn't it be nice to go out in public without fear, stay home alone without fear, fall asleep easily with no fear, to feel normal again?. I for one can tell you that this is possible. This is the stage I have reached with my anxiety and panic attacks.(Justin Brooke, Creator of NewAnxietyCure.com) Along the way I bought alot of really crappy anti-anxiety products. I mean some serious garbage! However, you have to be willing to do what it takes and learn from other peoples mistakes. I wrote this with the intention of helping you skip over a few mistakes I made, and save some money too!

To put it to you honestly there are alot of people just looking to make a quick buck on the fact that anxiety/depression victims are desperate to feel "normal" again. I have read atleast a hundred sales letters on anti-anxiety/depression products during my research to cure my own anxiety and panic attacks. There are some truly tempting claims out there. Some will say anything to seperate you from your greenbacks.

99% of the guys behind the products just want you to give them your email address so they can spam you everyday with their rediculous offers. In hopes that one day you will be desperate enough to come out of pocket. I know because I have been through the SPAMM filled email boxes, dissapointment, and refund hassles/stipulations. I finally got FED UP! I decided to be just as devious as they were being.

I researched the actual owners/creators of the products or programs and found their personal contact information. Then I called them up and acted as an investor. Once I convinced them I was prepared to buy ther whole "business," website, product, license, and copyrights. All they saw were dollar signs flashing in their eyes. They quickly opened their backend, virtual offices and gave me all the information I could want.

I could not believe how honest some of them were with me, some even saying things like, "It doesn't matter whether the information is correct, it's all about profit, they are so desperate they'll buy anything!"

99% of the supposed "legit business owners" disgusted me with their "quick buck" attitudes. Over and over again I found:

* Outdated information
* Lack of research
* Hidden contact information or none at all
* No support
* I even found some with false information.

I quickly realized that most of these products and programs were completely useless. Yet the owners were laughing all the way to the bank. Needless to say I didn't respond to them when they asked if I was still interested in buying them out.

Surprisingly, I did eventually find a few diamonds in the rough. Chuck Linden and Joe Barry, great guys. They had incredibly low or no refund request rates. To you and I, that means happy, satisfied customers. You will be thoroughly impressed with their passion for helping people, and their genuine honesty. They also offer beneficial features on their websites, like one-on-one support and systems that have been approved by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Joe Barry of Panic Away, and Charles Linden, founder of The Linden Method have traveled the world, and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars. To create, from their own experiences, two of the most brilliant, best selling anti-anxiety products on the market. Chuck, ( Linden Method ) was even interviewed by the BBC. (The rest of the worlds major news provider, think CNN)

Chuck Linden, almost of you,I am sure have already heard of before. Chuck is the founder of the famous Linden Method. He offers a complete anxiety and panic attack treatment system that has been approved by the National Institute of Mental Health, which is no easy feat, and should speak volumes to his credibility.

Then we have Joe Barry, renowned anxiety expert. Joe is the author to one of the all-time best selling anxiety and panic attack help books called "Panic Away." The information I read taught even myself, a profound anti-anxiety author, a few tricks.

In my honest opinion, dollar for dollar, you will never find or buy a book or join a therapy program better then Joe Barry's, Panic Away.

You could tell they were really cutting the price down to the bare bones. They have it cut all the way down to just being able to afford the staff they have. Although, I was told that due to their huge growth they are going to be forced to raise the prices soon.

It is sad to hear but everyone understands needing to pay for the employees', that make these wonderful products possible. I highly advise you join Chucks program and/or get Joe's book before the prices go up. You will not be disappointed! It is a tiny price to pay for the chance to feel "normal" again.

Well this article got longer then intended so to wrap it up I'd just like to say that I strongly advise against signing up to just any program out there, or buying any ole Ebook. There are some really inexspensive products out their with fascinating claims. All I can say, without being sued for libel or slander, is "you get what you pay for, so buyer beware!"

P.S. I had forgotten to mention that Joe Barry's Panic Away book sometimes comes with a one-on-one hotline number for those times when you really need someone to calm you down. I say sometimes because he only has so much time in a day. When a spot in his schedule book opens up he offers the hotline along with the book, but it doesn't last long. So if you do see it posted on his website act fast or you could be waiting instead of healing.

P.P.S Chuck has an ongoing support hotline with inhouse professional therapists. Below I have included direct links to their websites for your conveinence. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best and remember... The key to beating anxiety is to get obsessed with learning, buy the best books, join the best programs, keep up the fight! You deserve a better quality of life.

Onwards and Upwards,
Justin

Your Ebook Internet Marketing Strategy - 7 Vital Components

Do not underestimate the importance of having a good ebook internet marketing strategy. It will make or break your success in terms of the number of copies your ebook sells, and the revenue and profit you ultimately receive from sales of your ebook.

With that in mind, here are eight vital components for your ebook internet marketing strategy.

1. Set up a Web Site

The first and most important weapon in your ebook marketing arsenal must be a web site containing a sales page for the ebook. This needs to be a page dedicated to information about your ebook only. It is even better if you set up a dedicated domain name and site for the ebook. Now that web hosting packages are available for just a few dollars a month, and you can get a package allowing unlimited sites in one package, I strongly recommend giving your ebook its very own site.

Your sales page should be well-designed and contain plenty of information about your ebook. This information should include features and benefits to the readers, and of course, testimonials from your satisfied customers. And if you expect to have credibility with potential customers, your sales page needs to be free of little errors.

2. Build Your Own Mailing List

If you dont already have a mailing list and your own newsletter, start one. You may already have heard that, on average, people need to see a marketing message seven times before they will take action and place an order. A newsletter is a great way to keep your message in front of your audience on a regular basis, and at the same time you will be building up their trust in you as they get to know you and the quality of your information.

You might send out a regular newsletter - for example monthly or weekly - or you can set up autoresponders to automatically send messages at specific intervals. An autoresponder can send a given message at a specified number of days after the subscriber signed up to your mailing list.

3. Sell Your Ebook Through ClickBank

Why use ClickBank? There are several reasons why I recommend that you consider selling your ebook through ClickBank.

First, ClickBank is a very experienced partner to have when selling an ebook. Thats what they specialize in. There are already 10,000 publishers and authors selling information products using their system. But there is something even more important than the number of publishers. Its the number of affiliates. ClickBank have an army of 100,000 affiliates ready to jump on your bandwagon and start promoting your hot new ebook.

Second, ClickBank has a neat payment processing system. If you use ClickBank you will not need to set up an expensive merchant account with your bank in order to accept credit cards online. Setting up a publisher account with ClickBank costs just $50 or so.

Finally, ClickBank works neatly in conjunction with your own web site and newsletter. You simply add the special links given to you by ClickBank into your newsletter and web site, and whenever anyone clicks through your order link, they will be taken to a professional order form where they can pay using their credit card or PayPal.

Whenever one of ClickBanks affiliates refers a visitor who goes on to make a purchase, ClickBank automatically tracks which affiliate referred the visitor and pays their commission.

4. Article Marketing

Article marketing involves writing articles and making them available for webmasters and editors to publish. The greatest exposure usually comes from listing the articles at article directories such as EzineArticles and IdeaMarketers. This allows anyone to publish the article without any fee to you, the author, provided they include your 'Author Resource Box' at the end of the article.

To promote an ebook successfully using article marketing you should write articles on topics closely related your ebook. Your author's resource box should be a small paragraph or two about you including a direct link to the web page for your ebook.

Besides being a good way to generate traffic, article marketing is a great technique for increasing your brand awareness. As people read your articles at various web sites they will begin to recognize you as an expert in your topic.

5. Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is one of the quickest ways to drive traffic to your ebooks sales page. It is certainly not the cheapest source of traffic, but it is probably the most effective technique to guarantee a large quantity of traffic, fast.

With Pay Per Click advertising you bid the maximum price that you are willing to pay for each visitor that clicks on your listing and comes through to your site. The more you bid, the more likely your listing will show. Many webmasters obtain traffic for $0.05 to $0.15 per click.

One good thing about PPC advertising is that unlike other forms of advertising, you only pay for visitors who actually click through your link and visit your site. Compare that to traditional advertising where you pay a set price for the ad regardless of whether you receive any response.

6. Regular Advertising

Regular classified advertising is a form of advertising which is particularly common in newspapers and magazines. Many online ezines and email newsletters offer classified advertising spots. Advertising in these can be one of the best sources of targeted traffic, since you have the ability to select those newsletters with an audience that most closely resembles your own target audience.

If you know the email newsletter or mailing list is a very good match, consider sending a solo mailing. A solo mailing is a special mailing sent to all the subscribers containing only your message promoting your ebook. It will cost more than regular advertising within a newsletter, but youll get a much higher response rate.

And don't dismiss offline classified advertising. It is possible to run a classified advertisement in an offline publication such as a newspaper or carefully targeted magazine and get an excellent response of people checking out your ebook.

7. Profit Sharing

Consider approaching other web site owners and offering to allow them to sell your ebook directly from their web site. You should arrange in advance how the profit will be shared. I usually ask the other web site owner to pay me fifty percent of the revenue from my ebook sales. The web site owner usually loves it because they will have a new ebook to promote, and after they pay their own payment processing fees, they should still be able to keep 40 to 50 percent of the revenue.

There you have it. Seven proven ebook marketing techniques for promoting your ebook. You might not choose to use all seven, but you should be using at least five or six of these. Some of these techniques involve using third-party tools or resources. If you are interested in learning which resources are my favorites, I have some additional details on my web site. If you employ these seven techniques carefully they will make an enormous impact on the sales of your ebook.
